Turnov, North Bohemia, Dec 3 (CTK) – The fire and subsequent explosions in the Czech AGBA firm manufacturing car accessories claimed two lives, while at least five persons were injured.
The injured have suffered burns and their respiratory tract was also afflicted, Matejicka said.
The fire in the building measuring 60 times 30 metres, announced early in the morning, has not yet been put out, regional firefighters spokeswoman Zdenka Strauchova has told CTK.
“The action is very difficult. There are LPG sprays that are constantly exploding in the plant,” she added.
No poisonous substances have been measured in the air, Strauchova said.
The emergency service has treated five people on the spot. One of them had to be resuscitated and two were driven to a special burns centre in Prague.
The emergency service still has a helicopter and five ground crews on the site.
The fire is burning in the plant inside the Vesecko industrial park in which AGBA manufactures medicine chests for cars, car cosmetics, washer fluids and other accessories.
AGBA spokesman Jan Holas has told CTK the cause of the fire was still unknown.
