Prague, Feb 3 (CTK) – The five Czechs, who went missing in Lebanon last July and were released on Monday, fell into a trap prepared by the Lebanese secret service to get the detained Lebanese Ali Fayad from the Czech Republic, Czech papers and the Neovlivni.cz server wrote on Wednesday.
The Lebanese daily An-Nahar has reported that the five Czechs were not kidnapped but they were kept at a secret place with the knowledge of the Lebanese secret service with the aim to exert pressure on the Czech authorities and make them release Hezbollah agent Fayad.
The Czech Justice Ministry has not commented on the media information about Fayad whose case is in its jurisdiction.
The Czech media writes that an intermediary allegedly offered information about a Czech man kidnapped a several months earlier in Libya.
While the Czech civilian intelligence considered the offer a trap, the military intelligence sent its officer Martin Psik to Lebanon. The communication apparently failed between the Czech secrets service, the media adds.
Daily Pravo writes that it was a representative of the Lebanese military intelligence service who offered the information about a Czech abducted in Libya.
“A person offered for money the possibility to gain new information about our man in Libya, saying we must leave for Lebanon where a possible contact is waiting. Our civilian intelligence rejected it, but the military intelligence took interest in it,” an anonymous source told Pravo.
