Hradec Kralove, East Bohemia, April 2 (CTK) – Some 300 mainly young people took part in a mass pillow fight on a square in the centre of Hradec Kralove, the first Czech town that joined the International Pillow Fight Day on Saturday, Karel Horadek, one of the organisers, has told CTK.
The pillow fight in Hradec erupted shortly after 16:00, accompanied by loud shouting and laughing of the fighters.
“We can assess the event as successful, quite many people came and the weather was nice… I hope that all participants enjoyed it, too,” said Horadek.
He added they would like to repeat this event in the years to come, maybe in a more grandiose style with a band playing and an accompanying programme.
The International Pillow Fight Day has been held in the streets of over 100 towns in the world on the first weekend in April for seven years.
Several pillow fights were staged in the Czech Republic in the past, but on another date, for instance, on a square in Jihlava in June 2010, and a year earlier between students of the University of Tomas Bata in Zlin, south Moravia.
