Prague, Sept 19 (CTK) – The Himalaya Center will open in Prague in the next months by the Potala group that presents the history, culture and current developments in Tibet and other Himalayan region countries to the Czech public, Potala director Zuzana Ondomisiova told journalists on Monday.
“In connection with Dalai Lama’s forthcoming visit to the conference Forum 2000 and the events commemorating former president Vaclav Havel’s birth and death, the finish of the construction works in the centre is planned,” Ondomisiova said.
In the place, there will be an exhibition describing the relationship of the two personalities as well as the history of both official and unofficial contacts between the Czech Republic and Tibet, she added.
By next March, the interior is to be completed that is to support the campaign Roof for the World Roof on the portal Hithit.cz, Ondomisiova said.
The Himalaya Centre will be in the Liben neighbourhood, the current seat of Potala, she added.
Along with cultural, education and relaxation programmes, courses and seminars, the Himalaya Centre will also offer a large library and archives, Ondomisova said.
The Dalai Lama will come to Prague to attend the conference Forum 2000, founded by his friend, Havel, 20 years ago.
The Dalai Lama will deliver a lecture on October 19.
