Usti nad Labem, North Bohemia, Oct 4 (CTK) – Two police officers from Usti nad Labem face abuse of power charges for having kept ten kilos of marijuana they seized, the Nova commercial TV reported on Tuesday.
The police are also looking into these policemen’s involvement in the kidnapping of the wife of the man whose drug they seized.
General Inspection of Security Corps (GIBS) spokeswoman Radka Sandorova confirmed to Nova that the policemen are prosecuted on suspicion of abuse of power. However, she did not elaborate.
The two police officers stopped a car of a local businessman from whom they seized marijuana. However, they did not report the case and kept the drug for their own use, Nova said.
Both policemen were put off duty, regional police spokeswoman Veronika Hysplerova told Nova.
