Prague, Feb 14 (CTK) – Some 1,000 firefighters from across the country will create a musical fountain on the Vltava River (Moldau) in Prague in June to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia’s establishment, according to the firefighters’ directorate general and the Firefighters’ Fountain association.
The fountain will be formed by both professional and voluntary firefighters using approximately 200 hose nozzles above the river in the centre of Prague, between Jirasek and Palacky bridges.
“A light concert” and “a water ballet” using several thousand cubic metres of water will be orchestrated in a single moment, the association writes on its website.
Music as well as colour lights will accompany the fountain. The Vltava symphonic poem from the My Homeland cycle by Czech composer Bedrich Smetana (1824-1884) will be played.
The event is scheduled to take place at 22:00 on June 2.
The organisers aim to introduce the firefighters’ work in a different light through a play of water, lights and music and create a spectacle for everyone by the Vltava River, Pavlina Bilkova, from the Liberec Region’s fire corps, said.
