Prague, Oct 3 (CTK) – The painting L’envolee (Soaring) by Czech modern painter Frantisek Kupka will be sold at an auction in Stockholm on November 15, representatives of the Stockholms Auktionsverk told journalists on Monday.

They showed the work of art in the Prague residence of the ambassador of Sweden.

The auction room has said the presumed price may be 650,000 to 865,000 euros.

Kupka’s painting is a part of the collection owned by Inga Britt and Arne Lundbergs, which includes many masterpieces of the 20th century.

Their foundation focuses on sponsoring of medical research. During their tours of Europe, they built an art collection, having bought the works by such renowned artists as Wassily Kandinskyj, Yves Klein, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Victor Vasarely, Raoul Dufy, Jean Fautrier and Frantisek Kupka.

Kupka (1871-1957) is the best-selling Czech painter. He is considered one of the fathers of abstract painting.

Since Kupka spent most of his life in Paris, he is sometimes considered a French painter. He only gained major interest of the public in the 1960s.

His Shape of Blue, he painted in 1913, holds the record price of Czech auctions.

Kupka’s Etude sur Fond Rouge (Study with a Red Background) sold for the equivalent of 62 million crowns in London in 2013.
