Prague, Oct 21 (CTK) – The European Commission (EC) has turned down a complaint by the Czech Interior Ministry about the redistribution of migrants across the EU, saying it considers the quotas lawful, the public Czech Television (CT) reported Wednesday.

According to Brussels, every EU member state has the right to complain about the refugee quotas with a court, CT said.

The Interior Ministry sent an analysis of the issue to the EC and accompanied it with questions, in which it asked why the institute of temporary protection was not made use of, how the relocation of refugees to the countries where they do not want to go will be technically executed and whether national parliaments may comment on the mandatory refugee-sharing.

The ministry sent the questions to the EC in early October.

Interior Minister Milan Chovanec said the answers his ministry received previously from the Luxembourg EU presidency are insufficient.

He said Luxembourg wrote it is not competent to answer certain questions.

EU countries decided to redistribute 120,000 refugees from Italy and Greece across the EU in spite of the disagreement of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania in September.

The EC later proposed that a permanent redistribution mechanism be agreed on. It would allow the European executive to redistribute refugees automatically for the case of a future crisis, without lengthy negotiations with the EU member countries.

However, the member countries are not united in their opinions on the proposed permanent mechanism.

The Czech Republic rejects permanent refugee quotas.
