Prague, Nov 1 (CTK) – Seventy percent of citizens of the Czech Republic trust the police, according to a poll on trends in the Czech society conducted by the TNS Aisa agency for public Czech Television (CT) that released its results in a TV debate Sunday.
However, most Czechs also believe in the existence of links between the police and politics.
The poll shows that 16 percent of people definitely trust the police and more than a half fairly trust them. About 20 percent rather do not trust and 7 percent definitely do not trust the police.
Women, those aged from 30 and 44 years and university graduates trust the police more often than men, the other age groups and people with lower education.
Despite a high public trust in the police, a majority of the polled are of the view that the police are interconnected with high political representatives.
One-third of the polled are convinced about such links, while a half suppose so. Only 16 percent of Czechs reject the existence of such a connection between the police and politics.
The poll was conducted on 1200 respondents on October 17-23.
