Zeman is visiting the Zlin Region these days.

Representatives of the Presidential Office will first lay flowers on Havel’s grave at the Vinohrady cemetery in Prague.

Then they will take part in a commemorative event at Prague Castle during which a fanfare will be played and the Prague Castle Guard members will pay honour to Havel.

The Castle said Zeman had decided to hold the event, but he would to attend it.

People and institutions all over the Czech Republic and abroad will remember Havel’s 80th birthday on Wednesday.

A rally in memory of Havel on Wenceslas Square and a concert in the Rudolfinum hall in Prague centre will be staged on Wednesday evening. A number of theatres have also prepared Havel’s celebrations.

Besides, the world will commemorate the fifth anniversary of Havel’s death in December.

Playwright and dissident Havel, born on October 5, 1936, was the last Czechoslovak and the first Czech president (1989-2003). After he left the post, he primarily focused on the promotion of human rights in the world. He died on December 18, 2011, aged 75 years.
