Prague, Feb 5 (CTK) – A Czech consulate will operate in the Czech House in Gangneung, South Korea, during the Winter Olympic Games that will open on Friday, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has announced.
The consulate will operate from February 7 to February 27. The Pyeongchang Olympics will be held on February 9-25. In Gangneung, all the ice events will take place.
The ministry said Czech citizens can contact the consulate especially in urgent cases, for example if their passport is lost or stolen, if they need assistance in contacting their families in the Czech Republic or in difficult situations such as a serious illness, injury and traffic accident or communication with the local authorities.
The diplomatic office does not provide assistance in buying tickets for Olympic events or finding accommodation, the ministry said.
An emergency line will operate throughout the day for Czech fans, too. They may use the DROZD registration system that is newly available as a mobile phone application and that offers recommendations and latest information.
Czech citizens also may address the Czech embassy in Soul.
A temporary consulate operated also during the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Assistance for Czech fans is available during football and ice hockey championships, too.
