Prague, April 6 (CTK) – The introduction of a European Professional Card, which the Czech Senate approved on Wednesday within an amendment which President Milos Zeman is yet to sign is aimed to simplify the recognition of foreigners’ qualifications.
Foreigners must apply for the recognition of their qualifications in more than 300 regulated professions, mainly in medicine, which even Czechs can only perform if they fulfil the law-embedded requirements.
The European Professional Card is to be issued electronically based on data from the Internal Market Information (IMI) system of the European Commission.
The amendment also introduces an EU warning mechanism through which member countries will be informed of persons who have been banned from performing a medical or teaching profession or possibly professions with influence on people’s health and security, Education Minister Katerina Valachova told senators.
The amendment also introduces new requirements for checking language knowledge in medical professions and those focused on work with children.
