Cardinal Miloslav Vlk has suggested the church makes a gesture and delay financial compensation payments by the state in order to get an overall restitution deal for communist era confiscations through parliament. The proposed restitution of 56% of confiscated property, estimated to be worth around CZK 75 billion, and payment of CZK 59 bn over 30 years is one of the most heated issues in Czech politics.
