Prague, Oct 6 (CTK) – Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD) has expressed sorrow at Wednesday’s decease of former Slovak president Michal Kovac, who was the first head of independent Slovakia after the split of the Czechoslovak Federation in 1993.
Kovac died aged 86 in a Bratislava hospital where he was taken with breathing problems last week.
Reacting on Twitter to Kovac’s decease, Sobotka praised his contribution to Czech-Slovak neighbourly relations.
Sorrow at Kovac’s death has also been expressed by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-Social Democrats) and incumbent Slovak President Andrej Kiska.
