Prague, April 7 (CTK) – President Milos Zeman decorated former Austrian ambassador Ferdinand Trauttmansdorff with the Order of White Lion of the Fourth Class, supreme state medal, for development of the two countries’ relations on Thursday, spokesman Jiri Ovcacek has told CTK.

“Zeman appreciated Trauttmansdorff’s contribution to the development of the relations between the two countries,” Ovcacek said.

He said Zeman had decorated Trauttmansdorff a few days before the arrival of Austrian President Heinz Fischer.

Zeman is scheduled to meet him at first at the railway station in Stochov, central Bohemia, and then in the Lany presidential residence, central Bohemia.

Zeman and Fischer will visit the grave of first Czechoslovak President Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1918-1935).

Fischer is only the second politician to be received by Zeman in Lany.

The first was Chinese President Xi Jinping last week.

Trauttmansdorff was the ambassador to the Czech Republic between January 2010 and November 2015.

He considers a joint book project on Czech-Austrian history one of the top achievements of his mission in the Czech Republic.
