Prague, Sept 7 (CTK) – The Czech Post (CP) and the Liechtensteinische Post AG have issued the first occasional stamp with the same motive, Dutch Gerrit Dou’s painting Young Woman on a Balcony, and graphic design both in the Czech Republic and in Liechtenstein, CP said on Wednesday.

This is one of the artifacts that the Prince of Liechtenstein, Johann II (1840-1929), donated to the Society of Patriotic Friends of Arts, the predecessor of the current Czech National Gallery (NG), CP said in its press release.

The author of the engraving on the stamp is Vaclav Fajt.

The stamp worth 27 crowns was printed by the process of five-colour die stamping.

Along with the stamp, the Czech Post has also issued the first day cover (FDC) with a fragment of Czech Baroque artist Karel Skreta’s painting The Holy Family with St. Catherine and St. Barbara, which was also donated to the National Gallery by Prince Johann II of Liechtenstein.

In the past, the Czech Post issued joint stamps together with Austria, Belgium, France, Slovakia and Sweden, for instance.
