The Czech foreign, defence and interior ministries have jointly given the go-ahead to support the Iraqi government in its ongoing fight against Islamic State (IS) militants. “It is extremely important [that] the Czech Republic help in the fight against international terrorism,” Czech former chief of staff Jiří Šedivý said. A total of 100 vehicles have been inspected and accepted by Iraqi experts, checking everything down to the spare parts that come with the reconditioned BVP-1 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and T-72 tanks.
