Prague, Sept 8 (CTK) – The Czech Social Inclusion Agency, one of the departments of the Human Rights Section of the Government Office, wants to change the situation where children from socially underprivileged families often fail to complete elementary education by 2022, daily Pravo writes on Thursday.

It writes that according to an analysis carried out by Palacky University in Olomouc, north Moravia, published in 2015, some 38,000 children under 15 live in socially deprived localities and many of them end their education early.

“The highest number of them are in the Usti Region (northern Bohemia), where the biggest portion of prepared support will be sent. Problems are also in the peripheries in the South Bohemia Region, mainly in border areas, or in municipalities that are cut off from the surrounding world, to put it simply,” Pravo quotes Lucie Nemesova, from the Social Inclusion Agency, as saying.

She said children are expected to prepare for lessons at home, too, but this does not often happen, or they miss aids which the parents do not provide for them.

“Problems also rest in pre-school bringing-up. We have terrible results from various corners of the country, where even first-graders fail to advance to the second grade,” Nemesova said.

She added that conditions are also to be prepared for children to continue at secondary schools after completion of elementary education.

The Social Inclusion Agency says the situation can be changed by regions, towns and other school establishers, Pravo writes.

“We also want to more cooperate with the local non-profit organisations. We will offer them methodological support, specialist consultancy, we will alert to specific problems and offer specific solutions,” Nemesova said.
