Mosnov, North Moravia, Feb 9 (CTK) – The Patrouille Suisse aerobatic team of the Swiss air force will perform in the Czech Republic for the first time within the NATO and Czech Military Air Force Days in September, the organisers, from the Jagello 2000 association, told CTK on Tuesday.
The annual show of army and aviation equipment will take place at the Ostrava-Mosnov airport.
Patrouille Suisse, established in 1964, has not yet been either to the Czech Republic or to the neighbouring Slovakia.
“We have been striving to get Patrouille Suisse for several years. The Swiss air force is considering its foreign participation very carefully. It gives only some five performances abroad a year,” Jagello 2000 chairman Zbynek Pavlacik said.
Patrouille Suisse operates the F-5E Tiger II supersonic aircraft, coated with attractive red and white Swiss national colours.
“Exactly thanks to this distinctive coating, the Patrouille Suisse planes are used for the training of pilots,” the organisers said.
The NATO Days, in which military, rescue and security units take part, is the largest event of its kind in central Europe.
The entrance is free. Last year, more than 220,000 people visited the show.
Apart from Patrouille Suisse, the Belgian Red Devils and the Swiss Hornet Solo Display team with its F/A-18 supersonic aircraft will participate in the NATO Days to be held on September 17-18 this year.
