Prague, Nov 14 (CTK) – The Prague City Hall may donate half a million crowns to the Italian-Czech Mixed Industrial Chamber for the rehabilition of the areas hit by earthquakes earlier this year, Prague Mayor Adriana Krnacova (ANO) told journalists on Monday.

The gift will be on the agenda of the Prague City Hall on Tuesday.

In August and October, devastating quakes hit central Italy, forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes.

“I have proposed to the City Hall that we support the towns in the Umbria, Lazio and Marche regions, affected by a strong quake at the end of August,” Krnacova said.

“We are linked with Italy by a very close and friendly relationship. I believe the money will really help those in need,” she added.

Italy may receive the money within a collection staged by several organisations to which Prague will contribute.

The October 30 quake reached the magnitude 6.5 on the Richter scale and was the strongest for more than 30 years.

Prague also supported the earthquake rehabilitation with 20 million crowns in Haiti in 2010.

Eleven years ago, Prague helped New Orleans in the USA devastated by the Katrina and Rita hurricanes.
