New York/Prague/Brussels, Nov 14 (CTK) – Ivana Trump, a Czech-born former wife of U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, would be “very good” as a diplomat, Czech state secretary for the EU Tomas Prouza told the U.S. server Politico on Monday.

Prouza reacted to the statement by Ivana Trump, by whom Trump has three children, that she would like to serve her homeland and become a U.S. ambassador to the Czech Republic

The New York Post newspaper has reported that Ivana Trump, 67, who was the billionaire Donald Trump’s first wife for 15 years, has made the offer to him, saying she wants to help her homeland.

“I will suggest that I be ambassador for the Czech Republic,” Ivana told the paper on Friday.

“[That] is where I’m from and my language and everybody knows me. I’m quite known all around the world. Not only in America. I have written three books, and they were translated in 40 countries in 25 languages. I’m known by the name Ivana. I really did not need the name Trump.”

Ivana Trump, born Zelnickova, comes from Zlin, south Moravia. She married Donald Trump in 1977. He was her second husband, while for him it was his first wedding.

They divorced in 1992.

Ivana Trump has been married four times, her last former husband being an Italian model.

If she comes, she will be welcomed and it will be easy for her to establish contact with people, Prouza said.

She will certainly address people easily and she may be very good in public diplomacy. I do not expect anyone to protest, he added.

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka told Czech Radio that in the U.S. practice an ambassador did not have to be a professional diplomat.

“A number of presidents have sent here their friends from the studies, fellow students, fellow workers from the Democratic Party,” Sobotka said.

“If Ivana Trump feels like doing so and Donald Trump decides so, I think that this could underline the line linking the Czech Republic with Trump,” he added.
