Prague, June 16 (CTK) – The Czech emergency and mountain rescue services have joined the RescueMe project of special T-shirts with printed personal and first-aid data that should help rescuers identify and diagnose accident victims quickly and possibly save their lives, daily Pravo wrote on Thursday.

People can register in the system on www-rescue-me.cz for a single fee of 450 crowns and buy the project’s T-shirt with their personal data printed on its reverse side, which is not visible at first sight, for 320 crowns. They include the name and address, a contact person as well anamnesis, such as epilepsy, allergy, diabetes and pacemaker. The front side will feature detailed first-aid instructions.

Moreover, people can have the data printed on their own T-shirt, which would cost 150 crowns, Pravo writes, citing Marek Slaby, president of the Czech Association of Emergency Services.

Besides, each participant in the project will receive a unique code under which their anamnesis will be stored in the RescueMe central register, which they can update if need be, Pravo adds

The project has been approved by the Personal Data Protection Office and legally protected. No sensitive data or those that would require extra protection are on the T-shirts, Pravo writes.

The T-shirts are recommended for joggers and other active sportsmen, tourists as well as the elderly and children in general. A special edition of child T-shirts is being prepared, Pravo says.

Naturally, the T-shirt owner must not lend the personal T-shirt to anyone else, it adds.

The data on the T-shirt can play a crucial role in the case of a car accident, a sudden heart attack, a stroke or injuries and other health troubles during outdoor activities, Pravo writes.

Rescuers will recognise the persons who have joined the RescueMe project by an official blue logo printed on the front side. If the T-shirt is worn under other garments, the upper side of the clothes should be marked with the logo, Pravo says.

Rescuers can then find personal data on the reverse side of the T-shirt.

The project has been working in the Czech Republic only so far, but in the future it should spread to other European countries as well. It has been patented in all 28 EU countries, Pravo writes.

Unlike other similar projects to help rescuers identify accident victims, including chips and special bracelets, which have not been completed, RescueMe is an official project in the development of which both the emergency service and the mountain rescue service have participated, its founder Vaclav Sura told Pravo.
