Olomouc, North Moravia, Dec 16 (CTK) – A Czech court on Wednesday sentenced a Vietnamese man, Hung Dang, to ten years in prison for marihuana trading in a case involving two suitcases with 20 kilogrammes of high quality cannabis that were seized at the Czech-Slovak border in November 2012.

Hung Dang pleaded innocent and he appealed against the verdict on the spot.

The court concluded that the police monitoring and the wiretapping of Hung Dang´s phone calls have proved his guilt.

“The evidence proves that the whole group distributed marihuana in a coordinated way,” the judge Vladimir Hendrych said.

State attorney Alice Ondraskova said Hung Dang had received a suspended sentence and the probation period expired only shortly before he committed the crime that the court is dealing with now.

Three other suspects are prosecuted in Slovakia.

Members of an organised group received the suitcases with marihuana in Lipnik nad Becvou, north Moravia. One of them then hired a taxi to Slovakia. Customs officers seized the high quality cannabis because the police had been monitoring the group for some time.

The court dealt with the case for two years as it wanted to hear witnesses from abroad.
