Prague, April 18 (CTK) – The government agreed with admitting Montenegro to NATO, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD) said after a cabinet meeting on Monday, adding that the decision confirms the stance the Czech Republic has held for a long time.
Sobotka said the government also agreed with President Milos Zeman assigning Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek (CSSD) to sign the relevant protocol.
The protocol should be signed in Brussels in May and Montenegro will become an invited country.
Its representatives will be able to take part in most meetings of NATO institutions.
Montenegro’s entry into NATO will have to be approved afterwards by all member countries.
