Tomáš Prouza is new gov’t coordinator for digital agenda

Prague, May 18 (CTK) – Czech government commissioner for European affairs, Tomas Prouza, will also become the government coordinator for the digital agenda, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said during a cabinet meeting that made the decision on Wednesday.

Prouza, who will coordinate the activities of ministries and other state offices, will be direct subordinate of the prime minister which should make this agenda a priority.

Prouza said his priorities would be improvement of digital literacy of the Czech population, online trading, use of information technologies in the state administration and security and protection of data.

He said the Czech state owns a lot of open data that should be more available to the public so that individuals and firms can use them.

Prouza said he was coordinating the digital agenda for about nine months and his appointment in fact only confirmed the present situation.

Czech employers have been calling for the appointment of a coordinator who we have the position of a government commissioner for some time.
