A storm swept across the Czech Republic and neighbouring Slovakia on Saturday, killing one person and causing damage to cars and power lines, local news agencies reported. The victim was a cyclist who died instantly when hit by a falling tree in the Karlovy Vary region, the Czech news agency ČTK said. Thousands of people were left without electricity in the western Bohemia region when falling trees brought down power lines.
