In reaction to Canada’s PM Stephen Harper’s statement that Ottawa’s imposition of visas on Mexico is to blame on Canada’s imperfect asylum system, Czech Ambassador Karel Žebrakovský said that he suspects it will be years until the system is fixed and Czech citizens are no longer penalized. Žebrakovský said that after meetings in Prague, his country’s approach will be to lobby Canada directly.
