Prostejov, South Moravia, March 18 (CTK) – The Prostejov Town Hall has installed the first four pilot special concrete posts as “pissoirs” for dogs to protect trees from aggressive substances contained in dog’s urine, deputy mayor Jiri Pospisil has told CTK.

If these pissoirs prove successful, they will be placed elsewhere in Prostejov.

The town hall intends to test the concrete dog’s pissoirs to protect the newly planted trees in two municipal parks, Pospisil said.

The concrete pissoirs are extremely firm and resistant to water and chemical substances.

“After the efficacy of this measure is assessed, we will be considering installing the dog’s pissoirs in other localities in the town,” Pospisil added.

The first four dog’s pissoirs will cost 27,000 crowns, including installation.

Dogs are marking their territory with their urine. However, the dog’s urine causes damage to trees, the poles of litterbins and street lamps and the facades of buildings.
