Mosnov, North Moravia,Sept 20 (CTK) – More than 220,000 people visited the two-day NATO and Czech Air Force Days in Mosnov during the weekend, Zbynek Pavlacik, chairman of the Jagello 2000 association, the event’s main organiser, told reporters Sunday.

It is one of the most popular events in the Czech Republic as well as in Central Europe, he added.

Some 155,000 people attended the NATO Days on Saturday alone, which was a record high attendance on the first day of the military event.

Sunday’s attendance was considerably lower mainly because of adverse weather, Pavlacik said.

One of the major attractions was the U.S. B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber, which returned to Mosnov after three years.

Visitors could see eight hours of dynamic shows in the air and on the ground every day, including an operation to rescue hostages. It was performed by an elite women’s unit from Jordan that took part in the event for the first time.

A number of military vehicles and types of equipment were publicly presented in the Czech Republic and elsewhere in Europe for the first time, Pavlacik said.

Sweden as a partner country transported a major part of its historical air squadron abroad for show for the first time, he said.

The two-day NATO Days is one of the biggest events of its kind in Central Europe.

This year, military, rescue and security units from 16 countries participated in it.
