Prague, Sept 20 (CTK) – Many Czechs do sport in order to keep physically and mentally fit, daily Pravo writes on Tuesday, citing a survey initiated by the Kooperativa Foundation, and adds that 22 percent of Czechs go regularly cycling and one in seven go jogging.

The most popular fitness activities are tourism and walking, which are regularly pursued by 26 percent of the respondents.

Nine percent go walking their dogs, and 8 percent regularly visit fitness centres, the survey showed, Pravo writes.

A total of 27 percent of the respondents said they go for a walk with their children several times a week, and 26 percent said they do so almost every day, Pravo writes.

As far as people’s motivation is concerned, 75 percent do sport in order to clear their head, over 60 percent want to keep healthy and about the same number feel better after doing sport, Pravo writes.

A crushing majority of adult Czechs (88 percent) feel a lack of movement in their lives. This is often connected with their jobs.

Fifty-nine percent of Czechs have a sedentary job, one third say they keep standing for most of their working hours, and only 9 percent say they have a physically demanding job and permanently move at work.

People realise the necessity to move mainly when they care about their appearance (43 percent) or when they start suffering from pains (39 percent), backache, for example, Pravo writes.
