Frydek-Mistek, North Moravia, Feb 21 (CTK) – A fire that started in an apartment house in Trinec-Vendryne shortly before midnight has claimed three lives, the regional police spokeswoman Daniela Vlckova told CTK on Sunday.
The firefighters found one body during their night action and the two other corpses were revealed by detectives after the fire was extinguished.
One man suffered leg burns and another one breathed smoke, said Lukas Humpl, a spokesman for the regional rescuers.
The cause of the fire has not yet been identified. A rough estimate of the damage is 800,000 crowns.
The fire started in a bedroom and the flames hit two of four flats in the two-storey house.
Eight firefighting units fought the fire.
“When the first unit arrived on the spot, the roof was already engulfed in flames,” firefighter spokesman Jakub Kozak said.
Seven people were gradually evacuated from the house, Kozak said.
