Praha, Sept 22 (CTK) – The Foreign Affairs Ministry, in cooperation with Czech think-tanks, is preparing the Prague European Summit to be held on November 12-13 with the ambition to organise similar significant European strategic conferences in the capital regularly, the ministry has said.

Some 200 delegates, including the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4), or the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, and other countries will discuss the mechanisms of the EU functioning in dealing with crises, such as the current refugee wave, at the Prague European summit.

Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek (Social Democrats, CSSD) told reporters Tuesday that he would like to lead the discussion at the summit constructively, and not in an academic tone.

The key guest to the November summit will be Frans Timmermans, the first vice-president of the European Commission (EC).

The summit will seek balance between the EU institutions and discuss a number of external challenges, such as the migration crisis, the situation in Ukraine and the fight against radical Islamists. Another issue will be the EU enlargement by the addition of the Western Balkan countries.

Apart from senior officials of European governments, the conference organisers have invited representatives from the media and NGOs that focus on EU politics.

The talks should result in the establishment of a platform for a strategic debate on the EU’s future course.

At present, the Foreign Affairs Ministry and cooperating organisations are also preparing the next conference to be held in June, 2016.
