Czech transport workers will halt trains and buses on Monday, 1 March to support their demand for a lower tax on benefits, in a rare case of unrest in a country that has seen little social tension throughout the economic crisis. The transport union said the five-hour strike starting at 4am would be an initial warning to parliament to remove new increases on value added tax on benefits they receive, such as cheaper transport fares.
