Prague, Jan 24 (CTK) – Czech PM Andrej Babis (ANO) will meet his counterparts from Luxembourg, Portugal, Estonia and Israel and speak in the panel discussion at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, the Government Office said on Wednesday.
Babis will also negotiate with U.N. General Assembly President Miroslav Lajcak, a Slovak native like Babis, and attend a luncheon together with other European politicians including EC President Jean-Claude Juncker.
Babis’s bilateral talks with the prime ministers of Luxembourg, Portugal, Estonia and Israel – Xavier Bettel, Antonio Costa, Juri Ratas and Benjamin Netanyahu, respectively, will mainly focus on European issues.
With Ratas, he also wants to discuss problems related to digitisation and eGovernment, which rank among the priorities of the Czech government.
With Lajcak, Babis wants to discuss Czech chairmanship of the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECSOC).
His meeting with Netanyahu late in the afternoon is to discuss cooperation in science, innovations, cyber security and economy.
Last week, Babis called the Davos forum one of the most significant meetings of world statesmen and an opportunity for prime ministers to meet each other.
“It is the best opportunity to meet new people and potential allies of the Czech Republic,” Babis wrote on Facebook.
Out of Czech politicians, only Vaclav Klaus, prime minister in 1992-1997 and president in 2003-2013, visited the Davos forum regularly, Babis wrote.
This year, the Davos meeting will also be attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, who wants to defend his protectionist “America First” programme.
