Hlusice, East Bohemia, Dec 23 (CTK) – Some 3,500 ducklings were burnt to death in an extensive fire of an agricultural hall in Hlusice on Friday night, the firefighters’ spokeswoman Martina Gotzova told CTK, adding that the cause is not known yet.
The material damage is put at more than one million crowns.
The firefighters were putting out the fire of a 50×20 metre hall till early morning hours.
One of them had to be treated by rescuers after breathing in smoke.
The fire corps’ investigator along with a representative of the Institute of the Protection of Inhabitants of the nearby Bohdanec Spa mapped the scene of accident on Saturday and took samples to be examined throughly, Gotzova said.
An expert opinion is to clarify the cause of the night fire, she added.
The third out of the four alarm degrees was declared due to the fire in Hlusice.
Both professional firefighters from the regional corps and volunteers from surrounding municipalities helped extinguish it.
