Prague, July 27 (CTK) – The Czech Republic will take stricter security measures at the border with Germany because rejected asylum seekers might try to leave Germany, Interior Minister Milan Chovanec said during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
He pointed out that some German politicians say thousands of failed asylum seekers might be expelled from the country.
“There is serious concern that these people might try to illegally cross the border to the neighboring countries,” Chovanec said.
The guarding will be reinforced in particular sections of the border and some of these sections are near German asylum centres situated close to the border, he said.
Chovanec said four Syrian refugees have been resettled in the Czech Republic within the migrant quotas. He said he does not expect further refugees to be admitted to the country this year.
Greek authorities cannot find the ten migrants who should resettle in the Czech Republic, he said.
The Czech Republic also plans to admit about 80 Syrians from refugee camps in Turkey. The Interior Ministry said earlier this week that the Czech intelligence launched the security screening of the refugees.
The daily Lidove noviny (LN) wrote on Tuesday that the Syrians are likely to arrive in the country by the end of October.
Chovanec said a very deep security screening will be carried out. “I assume that it will not be completed sooner than at the end of the year,” he said.
