Brno, Nov 27 (CTK) – Leading Czech graphic designer Jan Rajlich, founder of Bienniale Brno, died after a short disease at the age of 96 in Brno on Sunday, his family has informed CTK.

Rajlich studied Bata’s arts school in Zlin, south Moravia. After he ended his studies, he settled in Brno in 1950.
Rajlich devoted himself mainly to applied as well as graphic design. He was a pioneer of the coordinated visual style and a world-recognised posters creator.

Rajlich was winner of many domestic as well as foreign awards.

His last exhibition reviews his work in Zlin chateau. He attended its inauguration a fortnight ago.

Rajlich’s lifelong creation is reviewed in the book Brno- black white, which was published this year. In it, he described the artistic scene of Brno in the latter half of the 20th century, the city’s everyday life, the beginnings of Brno trade fairs and the golden era of Brno’s hockey in the 1950s and 1960s.
