Breclav, South Moravia, June 28 (CTK) – The police detained 14 illegal refugees during night checks on international trains, most of whom were Syrians, south Moravian police spokeswoman Petra Vedrova told CTK Sunday, adding that they will probably be expelled from the Czech Republic.

Three of the refugees were from Iraq and one from Somalia.

Two Syrians were detained on an international fast train arriving from Budapest and 12 other men were found on a train from Vienna. One of the detainees was an 11-year-old boy, Vedrova said.

Since Friday night, the police have detained 35 refugees in south Moravia. Two groups were travelling on a bus from Vienna to Germany. Most of them were from the war-hit Syria.

This year, the police in south Moravia have detained 450 refugees, which is ten times more than in the same period last year. Most of them did not have any documents.

If the police find out that they have applied for asylum in some other country, they are handed to it.

If they have not applied for asylum, the police hands them to the authorities of neighbouring countries, which are Austria and Slovakia in the case of south Moravia.

The situation in many European countries has become so tense over the influx of refugees from the Middle East and Northern Africa that some of the countries have started taking measures to avert it.

Demonstrations in support of as well as against the refugees were held in Brno on Friday.
