Jablunkov, North Moravia, July 28 (CTK) – Czech Labour Office will financially support commuters from areas with high unemployment and few job offers as of next year, Labour and Social Affairs Minister Michaela Marksova (Social Democrats, CSSD) told CTK during her visit to northeastern Moravia Tuesday.
“A similar system was operating in the past. We want to offer this possibility to people again,” she said.
Marksova said the state wanted to support people commuting to work.
She said the details of the system, such as the areas and sums concerned, are currently being discussed.
Marksova Tuesday met trade unionists from the Trinec Iron and Steel Works who were interested whether steelworkers could have the right to earlier retirement like miners.
Marksova recently proposed that miners working for a certain number of years could retire five years earlier, but Finance Minister Andrej Babis (ANO) was against it. The government will continue dealing with the issue.
