Mount Vinson, Antarctica, Dec 28 (CTK) – Czech climber Radek Jaros has reached the highest peak of the Antarctica, Mount Vinson, measuring 4892 metres, defying bad weather and a strong wind, adding the fifth mountain to the project Crown of the World within which the highest peaks of all continents must be climbed.

Jaros is yet to climb Kilimanjaro in Africa, Puncak Jaya in Oceania and Aconcagua in South America.

“The weather was far from ideal, there was a strong wind at the summit,” Jaros said at his web page.

“After a windstorm destroyed the tents, I almost stopped believing that I will succeed,” Jaros added.

“The Crown of the World is a continuation of my story. (Reinhold) Messner, too, continued so,” Jaros said.

“Thanks to it, I can learn other continents, climates, people and conditions. This is a matter of adventure and travelling,” Jaros said before he left for the expedition.

In 1998, Jaros, 53, climbed Mount Everest, in 2016 he climbed Denali (Mount McKinley), and in October 2016 Elbrus.

This year, he added Mount Kosciuszko in Australia to his list.
