Prague, Jan 30 (CTK) – Entrepreneur Karel Slezak has lost the membership of the Czech Syndicate of Journalists due to an incident in which he punched a cameraman in the headquarters of the election team of President Milos Zeman after his re-election was announced on Saturday, the syndicate told CTK on Tuesday.
The syndicate said Slezak harmed its reputation and interests by his violent action.
Slezak apologised through the syndicate on Monday and said he was overwhelmed by emotions.
According to video recordings made by several journalists, Slezak punched a cameraman of the iDNES.cz server. The videos show that journalists made photos and recordings of a collapse of a man in a hotel in which Zeman followed the election results with his team and supporters. Two men pushed the journalists out of the room, physically attacking them and cursing them.
The police said on Sunday they are dealing with the case over suspected breach of peace.
