Prague/Lahore, Pakistan, Jan 30 (CTK) – A Pakistani court on Tuesday extended once again the custody stay of the Czech woman who was caught at the Lahore airport with nine kilos of heroin earlier in January, the Czech Foreign Ministry has told CTK, adding that the custody has been prolonged until February 7.

The 21-year-old woman is in the custody facility in Lahore. The court extended her stay there once before, last Wednesday, when it prolonged it until the end of January.

Czech Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Michaela Lagronova said the Pakistani customs police are dealing with the case.

The customs officers caught the woman with the drug in her suitcase on January 10 while heading for a flight to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

According to the Pakistani daily Dawn, the woman denied having placed the drugs in her luggage by herself.

Pakistan issues very hard sentences for drug smuggling, including death penalty, which however, is usually not imposed on foreigners, the Czech Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier this month, the ministry said the suspected Czech woman had met the Czech honorary consul in the Lahore prison, had also a lawyer at her disposal and was in a good health condition.
