Prague, Dec 24 (CTK) – A Christmas exhibition held in the Czech Senate’s seat in Prague centre presents dozens of nativity scenes of various material, including straw and corn husk, as well as three mechanical ones.

Two of them are cone-shaped nativity scenes with several layers turning around their axes and the third one has some movable figures.

The display organised by the Senate Office along with the Association of Czech Nativity Scene Operators will be open in the exhibition hall of the Wallenstein Palace, the seat of the upper house, from 10:00 to 17:00 until January 7.

The oldest presented nativity scenes with plaster figures are from the beginning of the past century. They were made in Silesia, north Moravia, and the vicinity of Nachod, east Bohemia.

Unique artifacts are a folding nativity scene from Germany, a scene with figures in the style of stained-glass windows and a wooden “multistorey” one hanging on the wall. Besides, visitors can admire a ceramic nativity scene from Costa Rica and the non-traditional Merry Nativity Scene by Vladimir Pechar.
