Social Democrats closing gap behind ANO

Prague, Nov 28 (CTK) – Finance Minister Andrej Babis’s ANO would win the election to the Czech Chamber of Deputies now, but the Social Democrats (CSSD) in the second position have closed the gap by one-third to 10 percent, according to the latest poll conducted by the CVVM polling institute and released on Monday.

The Communists’ poll ratings rose, while those of the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) fell.

ANO would now gain 32.5 percent of the vote and the CSSD 22.5 percent.

The former have lost 2 percent and the latter gained 3 percent as against a month ago.

The Communists would now receive 14.5 percent of the vote, or 4.5 percent more than a month ago.

The junior government Christian Democrats’ poll ratings fell by 3 percent to 6 percent of the vote. They would be outstripped by the opposition Civic Democratic Party (ODS) with 9 percent, 1 percent more than in October.

The poll ratings of the opposition TOP 09 fell by 1 percent to 5 percent, which is required to enter the lower house of the Czech parliament.

Voter turnout would be 56 percent, the same as in October.

The coalition government is comprised of the Social Democrats, ANO and Christian Democrats.
