Czech President Miloš Zeman has invited Ukrainian President-elect Petro Poroshenko to Prague, he said in a television debate on Sunday, adding that he would be glad if he started negotiating with oligarch Rinat Akhmetov. Zeman said Poroshenko and Akhmetov, who hails from the pro-Russian Donetsk region of Ukraine, should try to avert further conflict and prevent an open civil war from breaking out.
