Prague, Oct 7 (CTK) – Czech President Milos Zeman appointed Jaromir Jirsa, 49, who has been Prague City Court deputy head so far, as a judge of the Constitutional Court (US) Wednesday, filling a vacancy in the 15-member body of US judges.
All 15 seats of US judges are occupied now.
The seat occupied Jirsa was vacated by judge Vlasta Formankova whose mandate expired in August.
Jirsa said as an US judge he would like to use his experience and strive for the observance of people’s right to just court proceedings, because violations of this right are discussed by courts within 80 percent of all cases.
The US should not play the role of another instance of appeals, though this is the case quite frequently, Jirsa said.
Jaromir Jirsa has worked in judiciary since the 1990s. He has focused on civil law so far.
In 2002-2008, he headed the Czech Union of Judges.
From 2008, he was deputy head of the Prague City Court.
