As per investigators’ findings, a well-coordinated international group managed to amass a minimum of one million euros (equivalent to approximately 23.7 million CZK) from migrants.
Law enforcement authorities have apprehended 14 individuals accused of orchestrating a large-scale operation involving illegal migration from Turkey to the Czech Republic and other EU nations. Among the detained, one is a Czech citizen while the remaining 13 are foreigners. Together, they facilitated the unlawful entry of over 1,000 migrants across borders.
Jaroslav Ibegay, the spokesperson for the National Center for Combating Organized Crime, disclosed this information. All the accused have been placed in custody and, if found guilty, may face imprisonment for up to 16 years.
According to investigators, the international criminal syndicate managed to gather a substantial sum of at least one million euros (equivalent to about 23.7 million CZK) from migrants. Authorities have seized approximately 900,000 CZK in cash, along with two vehicles, believed to be the proceeds of their illicit activities.
The detainees have been charged with involvement in an organized criminal group and with organizing and assisting in the illegal crossing of national borders.
The Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office in Hradec Králové is overseeing the case.
