A gas station worker in the Kroměříž region is facing accusations from the police of embezzling CZK 5.6 million, which could lead to up to eight years of imprisonment. The 47-year-old woman, who had been working as a petrol station attendant since 2001, is alleged to have abused the trust placed in her by her boss, a trust that had developed over more than ten years of cooperation.
Over the course of her employment, the woman gradually gained the knowledge and experience of employer controls, fund records, invoices, and cash documents. According to investigators, she began taking money from the cash register in smaller amounts starting from 2010, discreetly pocketing hundreds or even thousands of crowns per shift.
However, the scheme came to light only in June 2022 when a new team took over at the petrol station and discovered discrepancies in the internal records. The accused managed to embezzle almost five million six hundred thousand crowns during the period.
Now, she faces the serious consequences of her actions, with the possibility of spending up to eight years behind bars for the substantial sum she embezzled.
