The upcoming weekend in the Czech Republic is poised to witness temperatures climbing beyond the tropical 30°C mark, as projected by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ). While warmer weather is in store, the return of thunderstorms is also on the horizon. In contrast, the current week has been characterized by chilly rain and even daytime temperatures dropping below 20°C. The CHMI reported this morning that mountain valleys saw temperatures approaching zero. Notably, at around 4 a.m., Horská Kvilda in Šumava recorded a mere 1.4°C. The ČHMÚ’s forecast reiterates the potential for temperatures to exceed 30°C during the weekend, accompanied by the resurgence of thunderstorms.

The following days, particularly today and Friday, are anticipated to bring slightly warmer conditions and a reduction in rainfall. Meteorologists project daytime highs ranging between 19°C and 23°Cfor today, coupled with sporadic showers. Friday is expected to offer clearer skies and is likely to remain precipitation-free. Temperatures on this day are anticipated to reach 22°C to 26°C.

Saturday is set to usher in a few degrees of warmth, with daytime highs ranging from 26°C to 30°C. The skies will mostly be cloudy, transitioning to mostly clear, yet there’s a likelihood of isolated showers or even thunderstorms towards the evening hours, primarily in southwestern and western Bohemia as cloud coverage intensifies.

The mercury is projected to climb to 27°C to 31°C on Sunday, while localized showers or thunderstorms remain possible, accompanied by an uptick in wind activity. As the first half of the upcoming week approaches, temperatures might reach 32°C. However, the presence of thunderstorms is expected to persist during this period.
