Severe thunderstorms are expected in the southeastern half of the country on Wednesday evening and into the night, possibly continuing into Thursday. These storms may bring heavy rainfall, hail, and strong winds. The situation is anticipated to subside by Thursday morning, as indicated by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.

These thunderstorms are linked to the movement of an undulating cold front advancing from the west across our region.

Meteorologists have issued a warning, stating that during intense thunderstorms, sporadic torrential rainfall of 30 to 40 millimeters may occur, especially in the evening and overnight in Moravia, where storms could persist over a single location. Additionally, hailstones of up to two centimeters in size and wind gusts reaching approximately 70 kilometers per hour may be expected in the afternoon.

The warning is in effect from 16:00 on Wednesday until 03:00 on Thursday in the South Moravian, Zlín, Olomouc, Moravia-Silesia regions, as well as portions of the Vysočina, Pardubice, and South Bohemia regions.

Although numerous temperature records have been broken in recent days, the passage of the cold front will lead to a slight reduction in afternoon temperatures.
